Intellectual Property, Technology & Internet Law
Virtually every business has intellectual property assets worth protecting. And any business with a website, a Facebook page, or other social media presence needs to be aware of the sometimes hidden minefields of the Internet. Technology licensing by businesses is also now nearly ubiquitous, whether the license is for simple billing software or the most sophisticated of enterprise management systems.
Our Intellectual Property Technology & Internet Law Attorneys have the depth of experience and knowledge to identify and help our clients successfully navigate this landscape. Our intellectual property practice includes trademark, copyright and trade secret law, counseling and litigation. Our clients include technology, manufacturing, service and retail companies, as well as nonprofit museums, health organizations, educational institutions, and cultural venues. We also represent individual artists, writers and musicians regarding publishing contracts, trademark and copyright licensing, entertainment contracts and other intellectual property matters. We help our clients develop strategies for creating, protecting and maintaining their intellectual property portfolios through copyright registration, trademark registration and maintenance, and the design and implementation of trade secret protection programs.
We regularly appear before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in securing and maintaining registration for trademarks and service marks for clients. We also secure copyright registration for our clients’ works with the United States Copyright Office. We have extensive experience drafting and negotiating software licenses and other information and technology agreements in all fields. That experience helps our clients to level the playing field in the sometimes difficult negotiations over contract terms for the sale or license large software and hardware systems.
Our lawyers have been working in the field of Internet Law since its inception. We represent clients in connection with website development agreements, domain names, terms of use and privacy policies, and social media law. We also advise clients on rights of privacy, rights of publicity, fair use, data security, and other issues of particular relevance to doing business over the Internet.
